Draw-to-adopt Marwari Imports by oxpecker Draw-to-adopt Marwari Imports by oxpecker
:new: Edit: Winners for several of the horses have been chosen -
1. Bay pangare - AlbinoBadger
2. Sooty bay - nickel-bug
3. Smokey cream - SudenTaival
4. Blood bay - themoonphase
5. Sun-faded black - ShouTonagura
6. Liver chestnut - AlbinoBadger
7. Grey tovero - hippiej0e OPEN again, was adopted and then returned, has one artwork already
8. Chestnut tobiano - Dark-Bakura1
9. Sooty buckskin - ShouTonagura
10. Sooty palomino - DiePest-1912

All the OPEN horses are now first-come-first-served. Comment your applications to claim the horse.
Please note that the same rules apply as below - no premade line-art, and please put some effort into your pictures.

---

Note - Only for HARPG players, or any equine art RPG that does not use free line-art! I prefer to give these horses to HARPG players rather than horse artists who do not run RP stables. We need more Marwari bloodstock in the game, so I really want active players and breeders working with these horses.

Don't see a horse you like? Why not create your own Marwari? They are an excellent breed, extremely fun to draw, and they need more love.

This import batch is brought to you by
The Curly Eared Society - HARPG-CES
HARPG Marwari breed registry

Please register and submit your horses to the CES in order to participate in our achievement points system and official group events.

These are Marwari horses imported from Rajasthan, northern India. This is an athletic light riding horse which has a rich history of military service. Some of them have a metallic sheen to their coats, as found in the Akhal Teke horse. All of these imports can perform the comfortable revaal gait - similar to racking/tolt/running walk/ambling gaits found in other breeds. This hardy desert breed is perfect for all sports that demand agility, endurance and speed. Marwaris usually stand around 15 hands, however in rare cases they may be as short as 14hh, or as tall as 17hh. All Marwaris have curly ears that point inwards like a lyre. Marwari crossbreeds usually will not inherit curly ears. Read more about Marwaris at Wikipedia.

To apply for a horse...

Draw a profile picture for the character and decide its name/sex/discipline/height/personality etc.

Rules -
You can make small changes to the markings, but do not change the breed! They MUST stay Marwari horses.
Traditional and digital media both welcome.
You do not need to draw a background, but the horse must be drawn full body.
Where there is a ___ in the genotype, you can decide whether to make it hetero/homozygous.
You can make their manes and tails longer or shorter, it's up to you.
You have freedom to design the other side of their body.
You can apply for more than one, but each must have a separate profile picture application.
Also, I never do reclaims - if you win the horse, it's totally up to you how often you draw it.

When you are done please provide a link or thumbnail to your artwork in a reply to the appropriate comment thread for that horse below. If there are multiple applications for the same horse, I will choose the owner based on the following criteria:
- You did not trace a stock photo (I am very good at observing this...) - Traced pictures will be much less likely to win
- How active your stable is (are you likely to draw this horse again in the future?)
- How well you portray Marwari conformation - does it actually look like a Marwari, and not just a warmblood with curly ears?
- Effort and originality
- I will also take bonus pictures/arrival stories into consideration for effort, however they are not necessary

Winners will be decided on Fri 31 July. You have about two weeks from now.
Good luck!

#3 is all yours now.
The colour you have drawn her with is more like chestnut, in which case the genotype would be EE/aa/TT (no cream). However it is up to you.

Lovely artwork, but it looks nothing like the design you are applying for, in either colour or markings. I would suggest you simply change the description info into a new character, rather than claim my adoptable.

Not many are interested in these, so I would love to see you adopt one.
The larger Marwaris are uncommon, but they are in my opinion a much better choice for breeding programs, they seem to have better bone and deeper body.

Yes I did notice when doing a little searching some were 'thicker' looking than others and I prefered that look. Of course i prefer that with all horse breeds! XD

Yes, unfortunately not enough focus on the importance of sound conformation among Indian breeders - not all, but many simply breed for colour, resulting in thin-bodied small horses with poor legs. That coupled with bad hoof trimming conventions... you can imagine.

Ah yea. That happens wtih alot of animals unfortunately :/
Why bad hoof trimming on the part of the Indian breeders? Do they just not really have the right info or?

Having long hooves, as you also see with Tennessee walkers, tends to emphasize the much desired high-stepping walk. There may be a lack of good info on hoof health and perhaps many guilty of this practice do not realize that long toes can lead to lameness. Once again I stress that not all Indian horse owners would fit this description and I certainly don't want to give the impression that Indians are not knowledgeable horsemen (long toes are a problem in western countries as well), but it just seems to be quite easy to find photos of Marwaris with long toes. Examples I found in a few seconds on google .. link, - might need to be logged into FB to see this one: link,

Although I must warn you that if a HARPG player applies for the same horse as you before the deadline, the HARPG player will be much more likely to win the character (it will also depend on their activity level and effort though).
After the deadline, it will be first-come-first-served to any horse artist.
